The Oregon Racing Commission will meet Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 1:00 pm in Room A1 of the Portland State Office Building located at 800 NE Oregon Street, Portland, OR. The Commission will immediately go into executive session to consider information or records exempt from disclosure pursuant to ORS 192.660(2)(f); and/or to consult with counsel concerning its legal rights and duties regarding litigation likely to be filed pursuant to ORS 192.660(2)(h); and/or to deliberate on pending contested cases pursuant to ORS 192.690(1). The Commission will begin public session at its regularly scheduled time at 1:30 pm. At any time during the public session, the commission may go into executive session to consider information or records exempt from disclosure per the statues listed above. Additional items may be placed on the agenda after the general mailing of the agenda. Calls may be made to the commission office the week of the meeting to inquire about possible additions.

MI Developments is still evaluating new racetrack surfaces and is now looking at a system that would put moisture on the track from below, Haines said.
"It's pretty revolutionary and it hasn't been done on any racetrack before," he said.
MI Development officials plan to test the system at the Portland Meadows racetrack in Oregon, he said.

The Oregon Racing Commission today approved Portland Meadows’ application for licensure for their 2010-2011 racing season. Portland Meadows will race 75 days starting with their opening day card on Monday October 4, 2010. Portland Meadows’ racing schedule will consist of live racing every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday with a first post at 12:40pm PST. Live Racing will go every week up until closing day on Wednesday March 30, 2011.
Portland Meadows will, however, take a one week Holiday break in December. There will be no live racing on Monday December 20, Tuesday December 21, and Wednesday December 22, 2010.
Portland Meadows will race up to 10 races on both Monday and Tuesdays, and up to 9 races on the Wednesday cards. The Stakes Schedule for the 2010-2011 racing season will be completed in the coming weeks along with the exact dates for Portland Meadows’ signature race the Portland Mile.

Torres, the co-leading jockey at GP Downs last season, picked up six wins on the 11-race card. The 26-year-old jockey from Mexico won four straight races — the sixth through the ninth.
